S.L.J Day 3, Activity 2: The Secretive Skink

3 pros about working as a DOC ranger are getting paid, looking after native plants and animals and working outdoors.

3 cons about working as a DOC ranger are cleaning toilets and other messes left by people who didn't pick up their rubbish, working outdoors in terrible weather and working away from home for long periods of time.

I would not like to be a DOC ranger because I hate the rain and cleaning toilets and I don't super like animals so this would not be an ideal job for me.

S.L.J DAY 3: Awesome Animals Activity 1: Fantastic Beasts.

Demon Pig

Picture a pig. Now imagine that pig is as big as a car and as black as coal. It has eyes that glow like hot coals. Imagine it looks right at you. That's when you notice that it has gigantic horns, as well as the normal boar tusks. They look incredibly sharp all of them. "Run!" your mind screams. But where.....you spy a climbable tree and go for it. You last thought is "I didn't know that pigs could fly" as the sound of a snort and the smell of rotten fish and cranberries flows over you. The bat like wings knock you from your perch. The Demon Pig has struck again. The finality of its massive curly ram like horns silence you forever.

S.L.J Weird and Wonderful

Image result for awesome cactusI would need 3mls each day for 365 days to keep my cactus alive. Here is the calculation:

3ml x 300 = 900ml
3ml x 60 = 180ml
3ml x 5 = 15 mls
added together (900+180+15) = 1095ml

3. The Black Ferns - The NZ cricket team

I like the Black Fern's uniform the best because of the red and yellow stripe down the side.

S.L.J Giants among us

I would definitely want to go and see Tāne Mahuta one day. I would like to visit this humongous tree because it would be interesting to behold the size of the tree. Tāne Mahuta is named after the Māori god of the forest who is most famous for separating Ranginui and Papatuanuku 'in the beginning'. It is interesting that this legend has this very large tree separating the land from the sky. One reason that I might not want to visit this tree is to stop it from getting Kauri Dieback Disease and getting sick and dying.

S.L.J. My Hometown

My home town is Auckland. I have lived there for most of my whole life. The Skytower is the tallest free standing structure in the country and I like it because it looks like a spear. I enjoy going to the museum. The museum is very interesting and full of bones and old things. My favourite part of the museum is floating planes that are in one of the stairwells. It is called a Spitfire. There are beaches galore, and you can always go to a new beach. My favourite beach is Piha. Piha is a very long beach with waves that are spectacular for people who enjoy surfing. Even though the traffic is disastrous, Auckland is a absolutely wonderful city to live in.
