Hey there Justice, thank you for writing a review of this painting. I was wondering if you could tell me a bit more about what you don't like about the painting? What do you think of the colour, the woman, her outfit etc.

I thought it was interesting how it almost seems like a photo being taken, the way she is sort of posing and staring at you.

ReplyDeleteIt is also interesting because in the times before the 1920's women were not thought capable of driving because their brains were too small. So in some way this art is telling us that people's thought about what woman can and can't do have also changed....if you google art deco buildings some of them are really neat. Napier is an example because they had an earthquake and had to rebuild a lot of the houses and buildings in the time or art deco so they have not many older houses but heaps of (i think) cool art deco ones.
Personally art doesn't alway have to have a meaning. Sometimes you just like it or don't. Other times you like it more or less because of the meaning the artist (or other people) have giving to it.
